Here is our Christmas picture from this year at the Hulsey House. I will be adding more later!
At the urging of my sister-in-law Christy, I am posting some before and after pictures of my hair. So here they are!
BEFORE: You will have to overlook what I am doing in this picture. This was taken at our couples’ shower/pre-wedding party, and I was obviously having a good time.
AFTER: Not a good picture, but I really don’t have many yet. The back is shorter than the front. A lot shorter!
Since Denny has been off from work all week (lucky him), he started and finished his kitchen remodeling project. What did he do? He laid new wood floors! Yay! The kitchen looks so much bigger now. And nicer, too. Plus, he added 2 more drawers! We only had 2 to start with, so this addition is wonderful. Storage is such an issue for us. I am so proud of him; he’s so talented! Now if I can just get him to paint the rest of the house, we’ll be done!
Is it just me, or does the Statesboro Herald fail to report all of the news in Bulloch County? Maybe I’m just too nosey (thanks mom – I get that from you). There was a major wreck a few miles from our house a couple of weeks ago, and I never read anything about it in the paper. And yesterday, there was another accident which was major enough for police to block off the highway for several hours. And rumor has it that someone died. But is there a story about it in today’s paper? Not that I see. Why are we constantly being left in the dark about such important issues in the community? Maybe if people were made aware of the danger of that intersection, they would use more caution when approaching it. Both of the wrecks occured at the intersection of Highway 46 and Nevils-Denmark Highway. Even I have almost been involved in a wreck there because of someone who failed to look both ways at the stop sign before crossing the highway. If you pass by there, you will see several crosses at the corner which mark the number of lives that have been taken at that junction. The intersections of Highways 46 and 67, and at Hwys. 67 and Nevils-Denmark are equally dangerous, both decorated with their share of crosses as well. Denny has named the triangular area the “Bermuda Triangle” since there is such a big chance that if you pass through, you won’t make it out alive. So how many lives are enough? How long is it gonna be before we get ALL of the news?
Ok, so I’ve added some links to baby/pregnancy/birthing websites and blogs recently, so let me go ahead and clear a few things up. I am not pregnant, nor are Denny and I trying to get pregnant. I am just extremely interested in pregnancy and childbirth. If I hadn’t decided to become a teacher, I would have been a midwife. Well, I would have liked to, but I don’t think I could have passed all of the science classes (I’m pretty bad at those). I love all things baby, and I am so interested in learning all that I can about pregnancy and childbirth. Plus after all, I will be pregnant someday. Just not next week, or next month, or even next year (hopefully).
If you don’t know already, I cut off all of my hair! A whole 13 inches! I had been thinking about a haircut for a long time, but I never could actually do it. I was scared. But enough was enough. I finally got to the point where I didn’t do anything with it anymore. Some mornings, I would leave the house with it fresh-out-of-the-shower wet. It just hung there, like a mop. Not very attractive at all. So this past Monday, I made an appointment, and the very next day, it happened. Before I even knew what was going on, my hair was gone. So what happened to all of that hair? I sent it to Locks of Love, and it will be used(along with 5 – 9 other people’s ponytails) to make some hairless little girl (or boy) a new head of hair. So I feel great about it. My hair looks wonderful (I think) and I donated to a good cause. Since I’m at work, I can’t really put any pictures up just yet (Flickr is blocked), so you will just have to wait a few more hours to see my new ‘do.
Ok, so I learned a valuabe lesson this week: I do not really like taking pictures of people. They are so hard to deal with. They don’t cooperate very well with what I want them to do. And they move around too much. Who am I talking about? My brother and sister. My brother was in a bad mood and wasn’t really an enthusiastic participant. And my sister was a giggly wiggly worm the entire time. So 50 pictures later, how may were usable? Drum roll please………………. (can you sense my sarcasm?) Ta-da! 3 of my brother, 2 of my sister, and 1 of them together. That is pathetic. Closed eyes, turned heads, sudden movements, and half-smiles made this photo session a struggle for me. But I ended up enough pictures to fill a frame for grandma, so the hard work paid off. So in the end, I realized that other than babies, I don’t think I’ll be photographing people anymore. Hey, at least I learned sooner, instead of later.
